Hello : My name is Graham Gilbert.

I was born in 1946 ….. one of the original baby boomers.

Times were lean back then and like the rest of the world Australia was recovering

from WW2 .We went to school with all the European migrant kids and had a great time..... Who ever thought of wearing leather shorts ? Anyway it was those kids parents working alongside our predominately English parents who made this great country what it is today .In more recent times Global conflicts have seen people of a diverse range of race and cultures make Australia home.

We now share the benefits of living in a peaceful multicultural society. But we cannot take for granted that Australia will always be the lucky country. The Government and Treasuries lack of intervention to control house prices and the irresponsibility of the Reserve Bank and Big 4 Banks ( a cartel ) has created a new economic poor which is evident with the recent increased unrest and violence in the community and is related to home ownership and rental affordability that must be addressed with tax reform.

TAXATION LAW MUST BE BROUGHT INTO THE 21 ST CENTURY

Tinkering with taxation must stop being used as a political tool ! (that is not reform)

Advances in technology and the introduction of the internet in the 1990s is the driver that has aided commerce and trade to become global and has lifted many out of poverty. It has also left many smaller developing countries behind particularly when considering the infrastructure spend required to address climate change.

We are fortunate in Australia ( still the lucky country )to be endowed with plenty of sunshine , wind and minerals to be a powerhouse of the future but that is dependent upon our politicians putting aside their personal ambitions and having the guts to make the hard decisions including tax reform both globally and domestically.

The OECD needs to take notice !

The ACCC and the Government is presently targeting Coles and Woolies both great Australian companies for price gouging ...that is absolute BS . There is a lot of processes to get a cut of lamb or beef to the supermarket shelf. Farm gate / abattoir / processing and packaging / delivery by refrigerated transport to super markets Australia wide . Only last night I sat down to a meal of steak and salad that would have cost my wife and myself $9 each at most while many families can not even afford that because 30 to 40 % of their hard earned income is transferred to the banks pumping up their working capital and ability to irresponsibly drive the prices of houses up to where they are today....... and yet the ACCC prefers to focus their lack of leadership on two Australian companies who are doing a great job while also supporting charities including Food Bank and Second Bite .

Are you beginning to understand why I am so pissed off yet ? Please read my notes regarding the banks and taxation which are only one person's view but are designed to start the conversation of how genuine tax reform will address the financial hardship many Australians are feeling right now including renters and owner occupied homeowners and the issues regarding affordable housing .
